What is ordinary Portland cement?

News Date:2015-12-09 10:30:11

Ordinary Portland cement is also called OPC, it is the most common cement; it is used in general concrete construction when there is no exposure to sulphates in the soil or groundwater. OPC manufactured by great wall exceeds the quality demands specified in the Specifications for Ordinary Portland Cement. Our OPC is manufactured under an effective system of testing, control and monitoring, conforming to requirements under CE Certification License.

Common materials used to manufacture cement include limestone, chalk, shells and or marl combined with shale, slate, clay, silica sand, blast furnace slag, and iron ore. These ingredients, when heated at high temperatures form a rock like substance that is ground into the fine powder which we commonly call cement.

Portland cement is a fine powder, gray or white in color, this consists of a mixture of hydraulic cement materials comprising primarily aluminates, calcium silicates and aluminoferrites. More than 30 raw materials are used in the manufacture of portland cement, and this materials can be divided into four distinct categories: calcareous, siliceous, argillaceous, and ferrifrous. These materials are chemically combined through pyroprocessing and subjected to subsequent mechanical processing operations to form gray and white portland cement.
