Lining plate is the damageable parts of a ball grinding mill. As we all know, the lining plate always suffered the strike and the abrasive action from steel balls and the materials. It is also corrosive by the ore pulp. And what is more, because the actors of different quality of ore, lining plate, steel balls, hardness and the running situation, lining plate are abrasive even to be broken at last. So to improve the capacity, how can we deal with these abrasive actions?
1. Choose steel ball and the lining plate appropriately. Regarding their hardness, the lining plate and the steel balls ration shall both be controlled between 0.85-0.9. The steel ball hardness shall be 1.7 times of the coals that going to be ground. Regarding their making material, after the thermal treatment, the metallographic structure of ZGMn13 lining plate is austenite. Besides, we shall also pay attention to confirm the right sphere diameter of steel balls.
2. Adjust the coal feeding amount in time, if the ball mill is running under load.
3. To avoid the stress concentration, the wedge hole, to fix and tighten up the plate, can be designed in a circular arc.
4. Control the grinding medium strictly, lower the containing of coal gangue and improve the coal grindability index.
5. For the ball mills with a new lining plate, we can use the low hardness steel balls for the first one or two month according to its characteristics. When the hardness and tenacity of lining is improved, steel balls with big hardness can be considered to use. This is helpful to extend the lining plate’s life.
6. Eliminate the defects of the equipment in time to avoid more broken parts coming out.
7. Keep more eyes when the lining plate is installed. If the lining plate is not right for the ball mill cylinders in size, changed it or have a remedy on the cylinders. It is unacceptable to tighten the wedge if the bolt holes are not misaligned. Furthermore, after been installed and debugged, the fixed lining bolt shall be re-screw again to make sure the fixed bolt work under a pretightening force.
